About a year ago, I dropped thirty pounds. Sure, it’s nice to have my clothes fit better, but that’s not the reason. The reason that I lost 30 pounds?
For these guys:
I was tired of being tired. When they would ask me to play basketball or football, I wanted to have the enthusiasm and energy to say YES and mean it.
I will say that I think that the key to losing weight while eating cleaner & higher protein is to be sure to watch your calories and you work out enough. I’ve seen friends go straight to clean eating & gain ten pounds. Clean eating can really rack up the calories. (ex: nuts, almond butter, etc… all have a LOT of calories and fat, so you have to eat much less to still be in your normal range). The difference from eating better is huge.
Eat clean, but do it right…
Becky and I both have more energy and feel better. (Our stomachs feel better, our focus is more clear, our energy is higher… and the kids feel better, too.) My knees don’t hurt anymore (yay!), which is great because I have had ELEVEN surgeries now (thank you, football), so I was really dreading #12.
How I did it–>>
1. Set a Goal
2. Plan for it.
3. Track it.
1. Having a goal: My goal was to drop 25 pounds. I dropped 30. I also wanted to start running again. I did and I feel great because of it. Write your goal down somewhere and check in with yourself every Sunday. I follow Iron-Tek’s workout program. It looks like this:
Everyday: Workout days and off days, anytime
Pre-Workout: 30-90 minutes before your workout take their Beet Energizer.
Post-Workout: within 30 minutes after your workout take their Hydro Recovery.
Take pride in yourself, the way that Iron-Tek takes pride in their products. They don’t use artificial flavors or sweeteners. Plus the products are non-GMO and gluten-free.
2. Planning: Becky and I planned our meals every Sunday. We would sit down and plan them, order the groceries, pick them up and prep them. I stocked up on Iron-Tek. I like Iron-Tek because they went back to the basics. They have workout supplements that help you to get fit (whatever your reason). We work hard, they provide quality nutrition. Win-win. It’s simple.
I start out by taking the Beet Energizer, which is a food blend of beet, coffeeberry, guayusa, coconut water with electrolytes. After my workout, I take the Hydro Recovery. It’s a 4 in 1 blend of tart cherry, BCAAs, electrolytes and coconut water. It smells so great & tastes even better. All of their products are purity tested.
3. Tracking. Keep an eye on how you are doing. Check your weight and measurements once a week or even every other week, but not daily.
YOU can do it. If you feel like something is holding you back, figure out what it is and overcome it. It may seem like a daunting task to get fit, but it’s worth it. Remember, it boils down to goal-setting, preparation, and tracking. Those three things, when combined, will help you reach success much quicker!
