This post is in collaboration with DIYZ. All opinions of apps and companies that help me complete DIY projects are my own.
Becky and I love to do projects around the house. Correct that… Becky loves to find ideas for projects, and loves when I do them for her around the house.
Over the years, we have compiled lists of projects that we’d like to have done. Like every homeowner, you always seem to find something that is outdated or you just want to change. If you’re like us, you make a detailed list of things that you would like to change, and slowly start making the changes. Back when we started making these lists, we would print pictures off the internet and keep them in a binder labeled “House Projects”. When I first started doing many of these projects it was a learn as you go process.
The learn as you go process is nice, because you can see your mistakes and correct them. Over time, you become really good at doing projects and you learn little tricks to make the job a bit easier. However, the down side for a DIY’er is that is can be frustrating, discouraging, and even costly in the end. A project that could have an initial investment of $100, can easily turn into $1,000 and having a professional finish what you started.
That is changing now. Today, you can get professional help at the touch of a finger thanks to DIYZ! The DIYZ Mobile App can give you step-by- step instructions, including how to segmented videos and pictures of how to complete a project. It also includes segmented videos, curated lists of materials that you can purchase easily within the app via Amazon and the opportunity to video chat with a licensed professional at the click of a button.
Last summer, some of the things on Becky’s “to-do” list included building a playhouse for our daughter, landscaping the back yard and redecorating our kid’s bathroom. Many of these things, I didn’t have a clue how to do, let alone know where to start. Well, I did pretty good with the list. Last year, I completed the playhouse, added a swing set and fully landscaped the backyard just in time for summer. However, I never got around to the kid’s bathroom.
That was going to change this year, and I had a plan to get it done just in time for Mother’s Day. I thought it would be great gift for Becky. It was something that was totally unexpected, and the kids and I could do it together. Becky was going to be out of town for a few days and returning home on Mother’s Day. It was the perfect time to do something really nice for her and we could finally cross that project off the list.
Now the kid’s bathroom was one of the smallest rooms in our home. I really didn’t want to hire anyone to come in to paint. Instead, the kids and I used the DIYZ Mobile App for help on this project. We went through the check off list of the items that I needed, and then we watched the entire step-by-step videos.
They even tell you the difficulty rating and the average time it will take to complete, which is great for any new DIY’er.
So we rolled up our sleeves and we jumped right into the challenge. Here are some before pictures of the bathroom. As you can see, it wasn’t very inviting, and probably why no one really used it.
With the help of the DIYZ Mobile App, the kids and I were able to transform the bathroom just in time for Mother’s Day. It looked professionally painted. Another great feature is that; you can actually talk live with a professional to assist you. The kids really loved this feature. Here is the finished product.
We loved that the DIYZ Mobile App features a large library of DIY projects. In fact, we used it to make the custom frame for the existing mirror. It was the “How to Frame a Bathroom Mirror with YHL” project to make a custom mirror in the bathroom (You can see it in the pictures).
The DIYZ App is free to download and is available in the Apple App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android. For a limited time, the video chat feature is FREE!
