If you want to see your kids smile, add Doritos to their chicken tonight. This recipe is going to be a hit. It’s also a great dinner to serve when you’re having friends over to watch the game.
Doritos are my favorite snack, so when I was making chicken tenders a few weeks back & ran out of crackers, which I usually use to coat the chicken, I decided to try crushing up chips instead. It turned out to be a hit.
Ingredients for Doritos Chicken Tenders:
- 8-12 boneless skinless chicken tenders should be plenty for a family, but if we have friends over, we add a few more.
- You’ll need one 1 large bag of Doritos (any flavor)
- 1 cup Panko crumbs (Tip: We store our panko bread crumbs in the freezer so they last longer.)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tsp. Cajun spice
- 4 eggs (beaten)
- Olive oil cooking spray as needed
How do I make Doritos Chicken in an Air Fryer?
- Start by using a sealed Ziplock bag to crush your chips. Put your chips in, seal it shut, squeezing out as much air as you can.
- Using a rolling pin (or whatever you normally use), crush the Doritos until they are the same texture as the Panko breadcrumbs.
- Pour the Dorito crumbs and the Panko breadcrumbs into a medium-sized bowl to combine them. Stir gently & set aside.
- In another bowl, add your flour, Cajun spice, and Cayenne pepper.
- In a third bowl, add the eggs and whisk them.
- Preheat your Air fryer ( if needed ) to the chicken pre-set temp. or 380.
Now it’s time to dip the chicken: - Take a chicken tender and put it in the flour and dredge them.
- Shake off any excess flour.
- Place it in the egg wash and turn them so they are evenly coated in egg.
- Now dredge it in the crushed Doritos Panko mix.
- Place on a baking sheet (this is their ‘holding zone’ until they move to the air-fryer’.
- Do this with the remaining chicken strips.
- Place the tenders in your Air Fryer.
- TIP: We lightly spray ours with cooking spray before shutting the lid & cooking them.
- Cook for 12-14 minutes.
- Check that they are done & if they are… so are you! ENJOY!
That’s all it takes to make these chicken tenders coated in Doritos.
They’ll be a hit in your family!
