As a parent of four kids, I know how precious time can be. I know how important family time can be. I understand the need for more of both of these things: family time… and just time, in general. I am happy to partner with Ivory today to share this message of simplifying our life so we can spend time on the important things.
I can remember being in high school and Becky (my wife) would sing me the song “I wish that we were older, then we wouldn’t have to wait so long….. We could be married. And then we’d be happy.” We both talked about how nice it would be one day when we were out of high school, through college and just being “grown-ups”. Now that we ARE grown-ups… I wish that we could freeze time.
I wish that I could tell my own kids that wishing to be grown means that they are wishing away OUR favorite years, as their parents. Alas, these times will change and we will have new favorite years ahead. Raising kids is like that… it’s about simplifying your life so you can really focus on the things that matter, like family.
It wasn’t so long ago that Becky and I decided to live by that motto: say “no” to other things so we can say “yes” to the family. Simplify life so we can spend more time together. Saying no to something so I can say yes to something else… like a game with our kids:
It’s like bath time – our son loves bathtime. He loves to lay in that water until it’s so cold that we make him get out. He plays with his cars and makes bubbles out of the Ivory soap and washcloth.
He puts his hair into crazy styles and laughs at himself in the mirror. He laughs as he calls Becky into the room and tells her to close her eyes and smell his hands, all sudsy from the Ivory bar of soap. He knows that it’s her favorite and that it reminds her of being a kid again. The Original bar is 99.44% Pure, free of dyes & heavy perfumes. It just smells fresh.
In fact, it probably reminds all of us of being kids again. I also used Ivory soap as a child and still use it today. It started 138 years ago with a floating bar of soap, in 1879. Ivory was the original gentle family brand you could trust. Yes, times have changed, but want to keep our families safe hasn’t changed.
Wanting to find something that is gentle enough for our sweet children, but works well enough for those sliding-into-home-base-dirt-covered knees is important.
I think that more than anything, we love that we don’t have to think about it. With Ivory’s trusted value, it’s easy to make better choices for your family, every day. When we are shopping, we pick up Ivory soap. I know that Ivory is using only pure & purposeful ingredients in its products.
The kids know that they can use it and we know that we will be using it. It’s one more thing to add to our “simplify life” list. I don’t want to spend time worrying about what works best, what smells great, which soap is gentle on their skin, which soap is safe… I don’t have to investigate those things because I already know the answer.
We love the Original bar soap. I like the new look, with the same pure soap. Becky likes their New Gentle Formula in Ivory Clean Body Wash, too. It’s a Gentle Clean Trusted for Generations, free from dyes & heavy perfumes.
Ivory gives us peace of mind. This lets us free up our time, thoughts and feelings so we can use that energy on the important things in life: family time.
