Today I am talking about, well, life… and the things that make it easier. You know those things that you keep in the car for your “just in case” moments? Well, we need them more often than most with our large family. This post is sponsored by Sears Mastercard with Shop Your Way.
This is what a typical day looks like when you are the parent to four kids:
Wake up, get everyone ready & out the door in an hour.
Drop four kids off at three different schools (intermediate, elementary, preschool)
Run errands (you have two hours before preschool is over)
Preschool pickup
Lunch
Spend time at home.
School pickup (two different schools)
Home – snack time & homework time
Sports practice (each child may only have one practice a week, but I have one every night of the week because four kids play four different sports)
Dinner
Get everyone ready for bed.
That is a LOT of time spent in the truck, so I keep the truck pretty stocked with the things we’ll need.
Every Sunday, we clean out the truck & the van and then we re-stock it. We go to the store, grab our Sears Mastercard from Citibank and get what we need. We’ve found that the Sears MasterCard has the best rewards. It is powered by Citi Retail Services, one of the country’s largest and most experienced private label and cobrand credit card issuers, and it let you earn more Shop Your Way points without a fee for 12 months from the date of opening. You get:5% back in points on eligible purchases made at gas stations
- 3% back in points on eligible purchases at grocery stores and restaurants; [5% and 3% back on the first $10,000 of combined eligible purchases made on gas, groceries and restaurants and 1% thereafter]
- 2% back in points on eligible purchases made at Sears and Kmart; and
- 1% back in points on all other eligible purchases.
- So… you earn points on all purchases everywhere you shop (I guess that’s why Sears Mastercard with Shop Your Way has the industry-leading 5-3-2-1 rewards offer)

Then, we can use those point on purchases (from household consumables… like that we need in the truck all the way to appliances sold by Sears & Kmart & on shopyourway.com )
Here are 10 things we buy when we are stocking the car:
1- Snacks (granola bars, nuts)
2- Bandages (a mini first aid kit is perfect for the glove box)
3- Extra pair of flip-flops. I can’t tell you the number of times we’ve needed these.
4- Extra phone cords for charging more than one phone, tablet or iPad at a time.
5- Paper Towels
6- Tissues
7- Hand Sanitizer
8- Wipes (we go through a lot of wipes after a few hours at a playground)
9- A notepad (yes… a notepad for when Becky says “Oh! I need to remember to do XY&Z”
10- A flash-light. Always keep a flashlight & extra batteries in the car.
What do you keep in your car?
