“A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow.” —Unknown
If you asked me what I’d like for Father’s Day, the answer will always be the same- a day to relax with the kids. Just hanging out, being together, playing together outside or sitting around the table laughing and talking… that’s the perfect kind of day.
While I know that most dads would say the same thing… I also know that gifts are a way to show someone that you care, so today I’m sharing Father’s Day gift ideas to help you find something that will work for the DAD in your life.
Father’s Day Gift Ideas
There are handmade gifts & store-bought gifts in here, along with gifts of experiences. I hope that you find some that show the dad in your life how much you care.
1. DIY PHOTO GIFT
One of the easiest ways to celebrate dad is to give the gift of a photo keepsake. You can easily create a photo gift online, but be sure it’s a special one: A photo of Dad or Grandpa holding his first child or grandchild, or a group photo of all the kids would be perfect for making into a t-shirt, mug, pen and pencil holder box, tie, or simply a framed photo. A digital frame pre-loaded with pictures of fun times together is another perfect gift.
2. HOME TOWN MAPS ROCKS GLASS FROM Well Told
Raise a glass to Dad and his favorite places with these bestselling Home Town Map Rocks Glass. They are classic 11 oz rocks glass that can be custom-etched and personalized with a detailed map of ANY city or town in the U.S.
The very detailed map of your favorite town, neighborhood, street, etc… is precision-etched entirely around the vessel. It’s available for every U.S. city & town! Plus, when you add the personalized text, it makes a truly unique & meaningful gift. This custom glassware is even dishwasher safe AND made in the USA.
3. G-SHOCK MOVE GBD100 Watch by CASIO
This training watch is so much more than just a watch, which is why I’m adding this to the list today. It’s G-SHOCK tough so you know it’s going to last.
It works for so many fitness needs – from daily health management to helping with running endurance. The training data, step tracker, training function, and the GPS & Running Distance Measurement are just a few great features. It connects to a smartphone, thanks to the bluetooth connectivity. It receives phone notifications, too.
4. HANDMADE GIFTS FROM THE KIDS
Becky & I have always loved receiving something handmade from the kids. For Mother’s Day, the kids and I paint pictures for her. For Father’s Day, she has the kids fill out questionnaires about me.
Have the kids roll up their sleeves and make something for Dad. Make a handprint craft (like a stool for the garage with handprints on it), a hand-print grill aprons, color-your-own baseball hats, or color-your own plastic travel mugs.
5. FLASHLIGHTS
I don’t know a dad around who doesn’t need flashlights!
I highly suggest buying a Compact Flashlight like this Mini Maglite® Pro LED Flashlight. It is the most iconic flashlight in the world. The Mini Maglite® Pro LED Flashlight illuminates the dark with a powerful beam that can travel almost 2 football fields. It is sleek, small enough to fit in a pocket, toolbox, or bag, comes I’m 8 colors, and it uses AA alkaline batteries.
Another flashlight that I would get Dad is the Flag-Lite® Limited Edition Maglite® LED Flashlight. With a beautiful Americana® design, this limited-edition Flag-lite® flashlight is a perfect combination of iconic design and high performance. With a beam distance of 364 meters and run time of 79 hours, you simply have to have at least one in your collection. With Dynamic Power Management, it’s no wonder if was designed, engineered and manufactured in USA!
Note: This flashlight utilizes 3 D-Cell alkaline batteries.
TIP: Use code BB15 for 15% off if you order either of these flashlights online (Some restrictions apply. June 12-July 31. Outlet, seasonal shop and discounted items excluded. Cannot be combined with another offer or discounted item. U. S. Shipping addresses only. Promotion available for limited time.)
6. MOVIE NIGHT WITH HIS FAVORITE SNACK
The kids and I love to watch shows together. The boys and I usually watch shows about fixing up old cars, while our daughter would rather watch a movie about princesses… I’m up for either option because I just like being with the kids.
A great gift idea would be to give Dad a coupon that says “MOVIE NIGHT” along with his favorite snack, like nuts/almonds. Personally, I like the Original Huy Fong Foods Sriracha Almonds. Our favorite Sriracha Sauce is now snackable and thankfully healthy snacks don’t require sacrifice.
Huy Fong Original Sriracha Almonds are crunchy almonds from California, that have been roasted in peanut oil, and flavored with authentic spicy sriracha flavor from the Huy Fong Sriracha Seasoning. It’s a flavor to go nuts for. They are the only almonds that use the official, full-flavored taste of the authentic Huy Fong brand sauce (others are imitators).
7. DIY COUPONS
With paper, markers, and a few extra embellishments, children can create fun coupons for family members. These gifts require no cash – a plus for parents who are cutting expenses and kids who don’t have money to spend on gifts.
Examples:
“One game of Around the World outside”
“A game of cards”
“I’ll help you cut the grass this month”
Encourage children to think of something the person receiving the gift would appreciate as opposed to something the giver of the gift is willing to do, even if the present wouldn’t be appreciated.
8. THANK YOU NOTES FROM THE KIDS
If kids don’t want to give out coupons, they can write brief thank you notes that they hide around the house for the person to find. A child can surprise dad with notes such as, “Thank you for making pancakes on Saturdays” and “Thank you for making that huge fort on the back porch.”
To make these brief notes, fold a piece of paper or cardstock into six or eight sections and cut apart. Write the note in brightly colored marker and add a shiny sticker or sequin so the note catches the eye. Then, hide the card – but not so well that the receiver won’t find it within a day or two.
9. COOK TOGETHER
If you want the perfect nostalgic Father’s Day gift, we’ve found it. Give dad The Bob Ross Cookbook: Happy Little Recipes for Family and Friends. This cookbook includes recipes and entertaining ideas based on the art and wisdom of Bob Ross, evoking the painter’s signature wisdom and tone. It has Bob’s own art & quotes in the book, along with full-color food illustrations from a certified Bob Ross painting instructor. It’s easy to follow, too.
Here are a few examples of recipes in the book: Happy Little Roasted Chicken, Curly-Topped Veggie Mac and Cheese, Nothing-to-It Pot Roast, and more!
Along with the cookbook, you’ll want to bring the grill inside for flavorful home-cooked meals by giving dad a Grill Pan from ANOLON. The best Cooking/Cookware Nonstick Indoor grill that we’ve found is the ANOLON ADVANCED HOME 11-Inch Deep Square Grill Pan. As the inventors of the first hard-anodized nonstick cookware in 1986, it’s no wonder they stand by their cookware.
It features hard-anodized aluminum durability and even heating meets Infinity Slide nonstick that keeps cooking and looking like new, even with daily use. You can find it in four colors: Available in Four colors: Moonstone, Onyx, Bronze and Indigo. With ultra-durable, sapphire- reinforced nonstick both inside and out for easy cleaning, gently molded handles for comfort, raised ridges and a square pan profile – it delivers 27% more cooking surface for better searing and browning. The Square Grill Pan from Anolon cooks like cast iron but cleans like nonstick.
10. Time together
What better gift than a day spent with your family. Go hiking, biking, or just stay home and read a book on the porch with the kids. Whatever you do… make it great!
Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there!
