Every day we are given the choice of whether we want to be happy around our kids or if we want to lose our patience and yell. We pick if we want to make jokes with them or tell them to stop being so silly. We get this choice on a daily basis. This post was sponsored by Hello Happy. Hello HERSHEY’S. as part of an Ambassador Activation for Influence Central.
Today, on take your child to work day, we wanted to show our kids how we can make happy moments all day long. Becky and I work from home, so we create our own schedules every day. Every day is our “Take your kids to work day”, so we have to make the choice every day to enjoy the moments at home. It can be hard to separate work from home, since we do both in our house. In order to do this, we try to create Happy Moments at home (throwing the football around out back, some s’mores after school, a HERSHEY’S kiss out of nowhere, a baseball game with your family).
HERSHEY’S is on a mission to show everyone the joy in everyday moments: in the car, in the office, on a rainy day, on a normal day. We try to create these moments every day… no child ever remembers their best day of TV. They remember moments like these:
Enjoy a special treat in the middle of the day. One thing that we love to do is to bring just one child to do something special. Allie loves when we surprise her with a HERSHEY’S kiss. She is always happy! Today (On Take Your Kids to Work Day), HERSHEY’S will set out to remind people that happiness is a choice. Sweeten your day with more of these “Hello Happy Moments”~ the moments of happiness that we pick every day.
Let them help in the kitchen. The kids love to make chocolate milk for a special treat after dinner. This week, we have been so busy with swim lessons, soccer practice and everything else. When they come home and I pull out strawberries, milk and HERSHEY’S syrup, they are always excited! Their favorite snack and favorite drink. The best part? They get to make it themselves.
Create science in the kitchen. We love to make s’mores and we like to make them in the microwave (get everything ready except the ‘lid’, microwave it for 20 seconds and then put the lid on & enjoy). We love to do it this way because we watch the marshmallow expand to be GIANT. It makes the kids laugh!
Have a fun moment just because!
The boys loves S’Mores… so it comes as no surprise that Allie loves them, too. She had her first one last year and she was hooked. Now, we make them just because we can. We just heat them up in the microwave as an after-pre-school treat!
Have “nothing” moments – those moments where you do nothing but hang around and talk.
Pull out a bag of pretzels and some HERSHEY’S spread and they will come around. We got this out today for Ethan & I to enjoy and within five minutes, it looked like this.
The main thing to remember is that you have the choice today to be happy or impatient. To smile or to be straight-faced. Which person do you want your kids to remember?
