This twist on the BUBBA Veggie Burger is our favorite. Grilling season has officially begun and I’ve made a great ‘relish’ to add to my Bubba veggie burger and I wanted to share it with you. Grilling is a huge part of our summer ritual. With a family of six, I am always looking for some new and delicious recipes to try for my family. One food item that we can’t stop buying are the all natural BUBBA Veggie Burgers (they come in a box of four, so we grab two boxes for our family). I have tried making my own gluten-free veggie burger patties in the past, but with a family of six I like to try and have a convenient option – The low-fat Bubba Veggie Burgers cut this process out since they are frozen for your convenience, without GMO’s – no thawing is required. (plus, these tasted way better than the ones that I tried to make… no need to tell anyone). Like most recipes I do like to take an original concept and add my own little twist. I have actually come up with a great twist to the BUBBA Veggie Burger. Sweet Pickled Veggie Burger
- One BUBBA Veggie Burger
- Once Slice of White American Cheese (I prefer from the Deli counter)
- One thick slice of your favorite sweet onion
- Sweet pickled cucumber slices
- 1 cup distilled vinegar
- 1 cup Water
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1.2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 medium cucumbers, sliced *Bring the vinegar, water, sugar and salt to a boil. *Once all sugar is dissolved, pour mixture over the cucumber slices and place in the refrigerator for 30-45 minutes.
- Sweet honey mustard (Usually make my own. 2 parts mustard to one part honey)
Our kids really loved the burgers. They had NO IDEA that they were actually eating vegetables… The black bean veggie burger worked as a healthy replacement to traditional burgers and it fit in perfectly with our healthy way of living. It is just one simple change- that they loved. Our son, Beau, said that this was the “best cheeseburger Dad ever made!” We ended up having my wife’s family over and everyone had the same opinion (great!) … we followed with some S’Mores and a campout in the back yard! My brother-in-law and I were in charge of the fire (and we may have snuck in an extra burger & a few more s’mores). Here’s a little snapshot (see more of our happenings on Instagram)
