We have all been THERE…
The kids just got home from school and you really want to get in some good quality time with them before heading off to the after-school activities (football, soccer, dance for Allie)
You try to spend a little one-on-one time with each kids and then rush to get dinner ready before you head out. The table is set. Everyone has a drink. No one has to go to the bathroom.
Then it happens…
Its the sound of “Knock, Knock, Knock” on your door.
And when it does happen, its like Santa on Christmas Day for the kids. A full-out sprint from the table to see who’s the mystery person at the door.
You just sit there, looking at the floor and let out a huge sigh of “Really?”
Now this will happen at our house at least 2 times a week (Not Joking) and it is usually from one of 3 sources:
- One of the kids friends trying to get the kids to come out and play before practice (where do they get all this energy that they can play before a 2-hour football practice in 95 degree whether anyway).
- A delivery person who does the old drop the package by the door, push the door bell, and sprint like Usain Bolt back to the truck to ruin the next family’s dinner time.
- The door-to-door salesman (the worst). Not that I don’t think they are nice, they just don’t leave even after 10 times of telling them you are “not interested” and “you’re right int he middle of eating dinner.” Plus we live in a neighborhood that has signs posted when you enter “NO SOLICITATION ALLOWED”
The solution… my neighbor Holly told us about using a little sign to tell the kids that it is not time to play.
So I made one on the computer. Here is a stop sign that you can hang on the front door so the neighborhood kids know that its not time to play. (CLICK HERE for a FREE PRINTABLE)
Or this one that will gently tell the door-to-door salesmen you are not interested and will not be buying what they are selling, unless its cookies then you can make that decision! (CLICK HERE for a FREE PRINTABLE)
