A few weeks back, while we were ordering our son’s new lacrosse cleats from Dicks Sporting Goods, I received an email from them asking if we’d be interested in partnering up to showcase some of the back to school trends this year. Of course, we were on board, since we shop there for everything anyway.
Fast forward a week. We drove to DSG to pick up the clothes that Becky & the kids had ordered. When we got home, our oldest son was so excited. He had ordered a Champion Sweatshirt, similar to the one that his aunt had ordered for him earlier in the year. This is his new favorite trend.
Unbeknownst to him, I was upstairs grabbing my own Champion sweatshirt – you know, the one from the ’90s. That’s right kids… ’90s fashion has officially made a comeback and I couldn’t be happier about it. It’s alright… he’s been living in his shirt ever since. Guess it’s still as comfy now as it was then.
Another trend we are both picking up on?
They’ve pretty much taken over our house… and the lacrosse field! I think that every player on his lacrosse team has yellow crocs that they are wearing with socks (and they are tucking their sweatpants into the socks – I haven’t jumped on that trend just yet.)
Between the six of us, we have yellow crocs in almost every size, white crocs, tie-dye crocs, and you know we have pink crocs for our Allie B. She wants to stand out in this house full of blue.
So what else is trending in the back to school style area?
You have come to the right place. 2020 is all about “Top off the field” styles & we’re jumping on board!
This year, we were invited to attend a virtual 2020 Back to School “What’s Trending” event, hosted by Dick’s Sporting Goods. We liked everything they showed us and so did the kids. DSG teamed up with Nicole Laeno, Miles Brown, and Calyann Barnett as they shop at Dick’s Sporting Goods to find their top looks for #backtoschool. This year is all about flexibility and being who you are, just like school – you are doing what works for you (virtual, home, in-person). YOUR DAY ONE STARTS HERE.
2020 Back to School Trends
With Dicks Sporting Goods, you can get everything that you need for Back to School. They have their one-hour curbside contactless pickup (this is what we did). How it works: you shop “in-store” while really only being online. Give them an hour and they bring it out to you. You can also use their scorecard (get those points!) and their Dicks App (awesome for workouts, too).
We are “sneakerheads” in our family and knowing about the latest shoe style is a huge interest of ours. When we found the Dicks Sporting Goods Footwear Release Calendar, we were thrilled.
This year is all about bright colors. Yellow Crocs, Teal Champion Sweatshirts, Green sweatpants… anything goes. Dick’s Sporting Goods is bringing back bold logos & strong pops of color.
Mix & Match
Brands, colors, styles, tops, shoes, logos. We are mixing everything up this year! If it brings confidence, kids are wearing it. Teen Girls are sporting cropped Champion shirts, wide-leg bottom pants, or Vans. You’re going to see teen boys in Champion Sweatshirts & Nick Airforce Ones.
It’s all about showcasing who you are.
Making a Statement
Let your personality shine with DSG clothes – they’re affordable and I like that 1% goes to Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation.
Team up: the mom/daughter trends are one that Becky & Allie have jumped on. They have so many matching outfits. Speaking of which – Becky has been sporting her new outfits that she picked up last week. Her new favorite brand is CALIA by Carrie Underwood.
Grab your favorite sunglasses, scrunchies, headbands, bucket-hats (reversible ones are in!), team-logo masks & hand sanitizers. Even fanny packs have made a comeback with teens.
My favorite trend of 2020 has to be the BackYard Recess items. We have made it a point to have time outside as a family. We go out every evening and play games.
Dick’s Sporting Goods has made this simple. They have so many games from Bowling Sets & GIANT Jenga…
to American Ninja Warrior games to Goals. It’s easy to turn your backyard into a sporting arena. Plus it gives the kids the exercise that they need since sports have been canceled.
All in all – if you are ready to take the 2020 Trends into your house, jump over to Dick’s Sporting Goods & start shopping. Level up your look – in school or on camera. It’s all about being YOU.
