Who is this Monty Python character, haha JK. I agree and still love the Goonies to this day as well. I can remember trying to make obstacle courses like they did. “Boobie Traps” all around our home!

What was scary? Seriously? My parents let me watch Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life……..(I know I know, what WERE they thinking!!) and I was terrified that if I ate too much I would explode like Mr. Creasode. 🙁 That was like how to give your kids an eating disorder 🙁

My mom allowed me to watch Friday the 13th and Halloween (and worse) I wasn’t scarred. I’m fairly lenient and will allow my 8 year old to watch PG13. I’ll explain the movie and ask if he still wants to watch it. He started watching Jurassic Park which I thought he’d be ok with it and he told me he was getting scared so we turned it off.

My supremely strict and morally upstanding mother let us rent so many questionable movies from the video store over and over; she says she never saw (or even heard) the movies because she was cooking. [When standing at her kitchen island one has a direct view of the TV.]
Fast forward 25 years and I could not wait to share The Goonies with my kids (I remembered it being hilarious. That’s all.) My kids were 8 and 6 — my 8-yr-old yelled every line back at the TV with absolute glee, curses and all.
ET was another parenting fail: my kids could recite verbatim the teenagers’ dialogue from the beginning of the movie after one viewing! [See also: Raiders of the Lost Ark.]
